After their first defeat of the season the previous week The Wasps battled to a hard fought draw against the league runners up of 2008/09 season. A tentative start by the Wasps saw them go a goal down after about 15 minutes but that seemed to kick start them and fifteen minutes before the break persistance by Rochelle Wilson allowed her to pick out Aston Worsfold who looped a fine header over the keeper and into the net. A strong beginning to the second half by Wimbledon and two lapses of concentration at the back allowed Wimbledon to score 2 early second half goals to go 3 - 1 up . Now the wasps really dug in and with the midfield getting the upper hand The Wasps had a free kick in the centre circle which  Ciara Hunt   sent into the box and under pressure a Wimbledon defender headed into her own net. The Visitors were now really under pressure and a Ciara Hunt corner dropped onto Bethany Friends head and she nodded the equaliser from a yard.

With seconds to go  a Rochelle Wilson effort went agonisingly just past the post with the Wimbledon keeper beaten.

Barnes Eagles (U16)  0  Crawley Wasps (U16)  6

Three wins, no losses 14 goals for and none against Crawley Wasps U16 season has got off to a flying start.

On sunday they travelled to Barnes in South London and after a slow start Rochelle Wilson calmed nerves with a smart finish into the bottom corner of the goal after breaking the offside trap.

With Barnes playing a high defensive line they played into the Wasps hands once they had settled the strikers played on the shoulders of the defence , Bethany Friend timed her run onto a through ball and calmly lobbed the advancing keeper to make it 2 - 0.A good early ball from wide right cut out the defence and keeper to allow Holly Walker a simple tap in to make it 3  - 0

Toward the end of the first half Abi Knight was bought down in the box after cutting inside her marker and Lyia Bishop slotted the penalty into the bottom corner for her first ever goal for the Wasps for a 4 - 0 lead at half time.

A spirited 2nd half figtback by Barnes saw the Wasps have to defend alot more but an inform Laura Pamment tidyed nearly every Barnes attack .

The Wasps finally broke the 2nd half deadlock when Friend got her second at the back post after another good early cross from Nicolle Smith. Rochelle Wilson made it 6 near the end of the game with her 2nd from close range.

Crawley Wasps (U16) 5 Merstham A (U16) 0

Newly promoted Crawley Wasps  got there season off to a flying start with a 5 - 0 win over Merstham 'A' .From the off Wasps took the game to there opponents and after having to defend a succesion of early corners the Wasps had their first corner which Becky Routley pounced on indecision in the Merstham defence to nod home the opener.Two more headers from Holly Walker made it 3 - 0 before half time as Merstham couldn't cope with the wasps strength at set plays.The 2nd half saw the Wasps have to soak up early pressure but good link play saw the ball played wide left to Yasemin Wilson who turned back to her right and curl a shot in to the opposite corner from the edge of the box.with the game under control at 4 - 0 good chasing of a thu ball by emily Timms forced the Merstham Keeper into an error which allowed her to tap into an empty net to make it 5 - 0 .Although the scoreline suggests an easy game the Wasps had to keep their shape and disipline to overcome a tough Merstham side and their will be no easy games this season, but after this win the Wasps confidence will be high and they have sent a message to all their opponents that the newly promoted team in the division will be no easy touch.
